Taste of Freedom (Смак Свободи) is an inspiring and uplifting Ukrainian feature film that follows Varya, a young woman who leaves her small town in search of a new future and her dream of becoming a chef. When she discovers a handwritten cookbook connected to Olha Franko—one of Ukraine’s most influential culinary figures—she embarks on a journey of self-discovery that weaves together food, history, identity, and the courage to follow one's passion.
Filled with warmth, humour, and beautifully presented Ukrainian cuisine, the film explores how recipes can carry memories, preserve culture, and connect generations. Taste of Freedom is a celebration of Ukrainian heritage, creativity, and resilience, offering audiences a unique glimpse into the rich traditions that continue to shape contemporary Ukraine.
