Ukraine's Independence Day is a symbol of our freedom and sovereignty. This day reminds us of the long fight for independence that started long before 24 August 1991. From the times of the Cossacks defending our lands to the struggles for freedom in the 20th century, our history is full of examples of bravery and heroism.
For over 400 years, Ukrainians have fought for independence. From the Cossack uprisings against the Polish nobility in the 17th century to the national movements against the Russian and Austro-Hungarian empires in the 19th and 20th centuries, Ukrainians have always wanted to live…
