Kobzar Yuriy Fedynskyi and his family bring Ukrainian music to Exeter - folk music for dancing, Easter chants, noble songs, polyphonic Cossack songs from the Poltava region, ancient English madrigals, Renaissance and Baroque music.
The kobzar tradition was nearly erased during Soviet rule. On 24 February 2022, Yuriy and his students performed in bomb shelters and military camps for those holding the front. Now they bring this music to the West.
Admission by voluntary donation. Donations can also be made on the door.
Doors open at 14:15. Tea and homemade Ukrainian pastries will be served before the concert. The concert is approximately 1 hour, followed by informal conversation with the performers.
